Luca Mercalli, climatologo e presidente della Società Metereologica Italiana partecipa mercoledì 29 febbraio al secondo incontro del ciclo Come cambia la Terra, organizzato a Palazzo Ducale.
Partendo dalle lunghe serie storiche di dati meteo e dai modelli fisici per la formulazione di scenari climatici, lo studioso afferma che è necessario e urgente un cambiamento per non dover affrontare emergenze inedite.
Mercalli ha fondato e dirige la rivista Nimbus. Durante gli ultimi vent’anni ha testimoniato e spiegato la crisi climatica ed energetica in oltre mille conferenze per il grande pubblico e seminari per la scuola e l’università.
Tra i suoi libri più recenti: Le mucche non mangiano cemento (Sms 2004), Filosofia delle nuvole (Rizzoli 2008), Che tempo che farà (Rizzoli 2009) e Viaggi nel tempo che fa (Einaudi 2010).
